The major Problem with YouTube Red is not awareness, it's availability. Even google, arguably one of the most global companies in history, is unable to offer their services globally.
Merging those creates new questions. In Germany, we do have Play Music AA. We don't have YT Red. If they merge, will we get both or none? I fear the latter, but it's google, so who knows. It's as it always has been. Once the all mighty US of A has got their stuff, no one cares for the rest of the world. Really, When Google Home is finally available here, everyone else will have moved on one or two generations.
It's really frustrating to read all the news about the great new stuff/toys/services that come out, only to find out you can only get it in Korea (Bixby anyone?) or the US...
